How ductless works
An outdoor unit connects to one or more indoor heads through a small line set. Each head heats and cools its own room or zone with its own temperature setting.

Single zone vs multi zone
A single-zone system is one outdoor unit and one head. Multi-zone systems run several heads from one outdoor unit. Your installer will size each head to its room.
Heads that don't take over the wall
Besides the classic wall head, there are ceiling cassettes, floor consoles and concealed ducted units that hide in a closet or attic.
